3 Tips to NOT go Crazy... and Get Your Goals

Are you anything like me this time of year?

CRAZY: I am feeling SO exhausted from the annual end-of-the-year craziness. Tons of holiday gatherings with friends & family, racking my brain for the right gifts, cleaning, cooking, shopping, scrambling to meet December 31st deadlines at work, triple-checking that I hadn't missed anything that needed doing by the end of 2016, and putting some things in place so they would be ready to roll in 2017.

And routine? HA! That flew out the window a month ago, for sure! It's mostly been wonderful craziness that fills my heart with happy. But craziness all the same. I am mentally & physically pooped! All I want to do now that it's over is hibernate! To pull in & replenish. The cold & dreary weather lately definitely adds to the desire to do nothing more than huddle under a cozy blanket & Netflix the world away!

MORE CRAZY: There is SO MUCH to do at the start of this new year! Playing catch-up from all the holiday interruptions, planning out the year ahead (both the Need-to-do's and the Want-to-do's), getting back in the groove of home life & work life, and figuring out how to modify that groove to fit in the new goals I've set for the New Year, too.

In the past, I would slam ungodly amounts of caffeine to try to get it all done. And I'm quite a bit like the dog in the movie UP ("SQUIRREL!!!!!") - jumping from one thing to the next, spending a whole lot of energy & not actually getting anything fully accomplished. And then end up finally crashing & burnt-out, saying "Damn, I guess I'll just go back to the way I was doing things last year, & I'll try getting it right next year."

Don't be like that!

FINALLY: I've gotten this whole process figured out!

So here are 3 useful tips to NOT go Crazy, Get into the Flow of Daily Life again, and ACTUALLY Get Your New Year's Goals:

Tip #1: Track It!!!

Your mind can't manage what it can't measure.

- Help prevent the "Squirrel" effect of getting easily distracted by using a planner or digital calendar to plan out your day. Do it the morning of, or the day before, & give yourself a little extra padding on your entries: Think your drive home will take 30 minutes? Plan for 45. It's always nicer to be surprised by having extra free time, rather than being surprised by running behind! And if you have a brain-dead moment during your day, you won't end up stressing wondering what the heck it is you're forgetting to do.

- Did you set a goal of eating healthier in 2017? I highly recommend using the MyFitnessPal app (Freeeeee!) to log what you eat each day. See how many calories you actually consume, and details of where those calories came from. Then dial in your eating habits to reach your health goals. MFP will also let you log your weight & your measurements, too, and graph your progress so you can see how you're doing & adjust as needed.

Tip #2: Give yourself a boost!

For some dumb reason, our society has most of us convinced that we shouldn't need help. Screw that! Ask for help! You will get so much farther, so much easier, with the assistance of others!

- At the gym? Ask a friend to work out with you to boost your mood. Ask the people who look like pros for pointers on how you can improve.

- Reach out to family & friends when you could use their help, whether it's suggestions to navigate a challenge, or an extra pair of hands with a project, or a listening ear.

- Call in a Pro when you need it. For example, Weight Reduction & Smoking Cessation are very popular New Year's goals, that some can achieve on their own, but that many find they need a pro's assistance with. I highly recommend Dawn & Drew at Ferguson Hypnotherapy for any assistance you need with your personal or business growth. I have been working with Dawn & Drew for years, improving myself & my business, and have absolutely loved the results I have gotten & continue to get.

Tip #3: Take care of yourself!

If you want to keep on shining like a rock star in 2017, you have to recharge your batteries now & then.

- When you're planning out your day, plan some breaks in there! Breaks really are SO important to your well-being that your mind will force you to take them, whether you intended to or not. Deprive yourself too much, & your subconscious mind will pretty much throw a tantrum, and the next thing you know, you're coming out of a daze from a two-hour-long Facebook bender, having not gotten anything accomplished that you intended to. (I'm sure that's not just me...)

- Keep your body running at its best. Don't skip meals. Brush your teeth. Drink water. Get regular chiropractic tune-ups. Maintain your zen with Reiki sessions.

- And when you really need to nurture yourself, but really prefer to stay put where you've hunkered down to hibernate, reach out to me for a Housecall. I've gotten requests for this elite-level service, and I am now making it available to you!

I come straight to you with my portable chiropractic table & all the healing tools we need. You receive the same personalize one-on-one care & attention from me that you normally receive at my office, within the comfort of your own home. You can even book your appointment outside of my normal office hours, such as late evenings & Saturdays! (Subject to availability, and must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.)

Now this Top-Level service is new, so it's in Beta Testing. So for now, the investment for a Housecall for chiropractic care or Reiki healing is $200 for any location within 15 miles of my office, with a small additional fee for locations further away. I will hold this price for you until I re-assess this new service in July. This is a self-pay-only service (not eligible for submission to insurance), and payment can be made during my visit to you with cash, check, or card, or you may make your payment over the phone prior to your appointment.

2017 can finally be your year! So let's lace up our boots & get to kicking it's butt!
