What are your self-care resolutions, now that the season of caring for everyone else is over, and you can focus on giving yourself what you really need to be your best?
How did your resolutions turn out last year?
Statistics show that most resolutions fail by mid-February or sooner!
And it's not your fault...
Maybe you were trying to do it on your own, without a clear path or without someoen guiding you. It can be hard to get to your destination without a map or a GPS...
Maybe you aggravated an old injury, or found a new one, that had you sidelined...
Or maybe you hit a mental block you didn't even realize was beneath the surface, that sabotaged your success and kept you firmly on the couch even though you physically felt fine and wanted to get up and Do The Thing...
Typically, something comes up that stalls your progress - either over and over again or for one long span of time - until eventually your subconscious gives up and drags you back to your familiar old setpoint from before December 31st
Let's break the cycle, and breakthrough to REAL results in the new year!
3 Tips to Prevent Resolution Failure - and Support Your Success
this New Year
Quick: What's the first thing you think when someone tells you they're making a New Year's resolution?
"Yeah right! Let's see how long before they give up on that idea!"
If you're like most people, your subconscious mind has a pre-programmed concept that a "resolution" is: that change you say at New Year's that you're going to make, but that you will give up on in a month or two. That's because that's what you've seen the most when thinking back to resolutions you & those around you have made, and the subconscious sets its programming based on past experience.
And because your subconscious mind runs 80-90% of what you think, notice, and do, and because it wants to match up your reality with it's pre-programming, it will bring to the surface everything in your environment that will ultimately bring about that very end - your failure on whatever it is you resolved to change.
Fortunately, there's a work-around.
Say you're working toward a RESULT.
Your subconscious doesn't believe you'll keep your resolutions. But you ALWAYS get a result from your actions. It may or may not be the result you desire - that depends on your actions. But you always get a result, whether you take the actions you intend or not.
The words you use matter!
Bonus Tip: Start your progress toward your desired result on a date OTHER than January 1st, for an even better bypass of the doomed programming, & even better success!
Still thinking about that powerful subconscious mind of yours, why do you think it is that most people fail when they say "I'm gonna lose weight," or "I'm gonna quit smoking?"
They fail because most of us were brought up being taught that no one wants to be a quitter! No one wants to be a loser! And gosh darn it, when we lose something, we try to get it BACK!
Now, in the logical parts of our brains, we know that there's a big difference between quitting a bad habit (a good thing) and "being a quitter" (usually seen as a bad thing). We know there's a difference between getting rid of something that's bad for us, like excess weight, and "being a loser." But our powerful subconscious mind only takes the words we use at face value.
So let's try some different words for what you really want:
... "I'm releasing 50 pounds."
... "I'm becoming a healthy non-smoker."
Sure, we're saying pretty much the same thing. But in a much better way - a way that will bring us the results we really want.
It's dangerous to go alone!
When you start down a new path to a new or unfamiliar destination - without a map or a GPS to guide the way - it's easy to get lost, get discouraged, or worse: get hurt. Especially when it comes to your diesired results for your wellness
