Tali's Tails
Greetings, humans!
Tali Cat here, with 5 great tips that will help you help your pet stay safe this Fall season!
Fall is fun for everyone - whether you've got two legs or four! You're settling into your regular routine after your summer vacations. The weather gets more comfortable. And the outdoor critters are gearing up for hibernation. (I LOVE stalking the squirrels from my window perch as they scamper through the crunchy leaves!)
There's just a few things to keep in mind to make sure your FurBabies enjoy Fall to the fullest...
Here are:
5 Simple Tips to Keep Your Pet Safe This Fall
1. Set the Fall mood Safely. Outdoor fire pits, indoor fireplaces, and candles sure make everything feel cozy as the temperatures cool outside. BUT make sure Sparky stays out of the spark zone of those fires, and keep Fluffy's tail out of the candle flame.
I did catch my tail on fire with a candle once. Mom thought SURELY I would have enough sense to keep away from a hot candle flame. Buuuut my floof is hard to contain! (I was fine by the way, but my glorious tail fluff got singed! SO undignified!)
2. Be choosy with your indoor pest control. As it gets colder outside, critters like rodents & spiders will want to get inside where it's warmer. Many indoor pest control methods are actually toxic to pets, so be sure to look for pet safe solutions!
3. Keep outdoor pests at bay. Ticks aren't just a summer thing. Deer ticks are more prevalent in the fall (the ones that carry Lyme Disease). And snakes get grumpy as they look for hibernation spots, and are more likely to bite a curious pet if they get surprised or too close. You can make your yard less appealing to ticks & snakes by keeping your grass short and making sure your leaf piles are picked up before letting your pets outside.
4. Settle the stress from your shifting schedule. The kids are back to school. The days are shorter. And now it's dark by the time you get home - to us FurKids, that sure makes it feel like you've been gone for forever each day! Help ease our stress and anxiety by giving us treats when you leave in the morning (to make your departure feel more like a positive thing), and leaving us with toys for safe play to keep us occupied while you're gone.
5. Ease into increased activity. It's been hot, so you may have kept your pet indoors a lot this summer. Nicer Fall weather means you're more likely to exercise yourself, and bring your FurBaby with you too. Ease into that new activity level so neither of you overdo it with too much too fast.
And to REALLY make it the best Fall ever, help your pets be their very best with a gentle chiropractic tune-up from my mom!
